You may remember back in 2021 we announced that NCM were to sponsor the North Berwick Amateur Football Club’s strips. The team was been set up by one of our employees, Finlay Pratt who works in our Client Investor Support team. Finlay and friends formed the team in lockdown and it was important to Finlay and the team to not only to establish a successful football team, but also create a social, happy and open environment for young individuals to feel relaxed, exercise with friends and enjoy themselves in a positive setting. However, above all their aim was to offer a place of support for those struggling to feel comfortable enough to open up and speak freely about how they’re feeling.
The team have had an exciting and unexpected development in their story as world-famous, spoon-bending psychic Uri Geller appoints the North Berwick footballers as the national team for his “micro-nation” Lamb Island. The island sits off the coast of North Berwick and Geller even designed a new badge, offered to pay their fees for the rest of the season and agreed to sign on as chairman as long as he could change the name to North Berwick Lamb Football Club. Since Geller joined the club, the team have played and won 2 games much to his delight!
