NCM is delighted to be recognised in J.P. Morgan’s list of the top 200 female-powered businesses in the UK. We are very proud to find ourselves ranked 106th after analysis of 6,000 high-growth companies that are led, founded or managed by women. It is an honour to be featured amongst such fantastic company and wonderful to see the spotlight on female-founded and powered businesses.

J.P. Morgan Private Bank’s list of the top 200 female-powered businesses showcases private UK businesses that have grown sales, headcount or valuation at extraordinary rates. To be eligible, companies must have grown at least one of these metrics and have an observation of this growth in the 12 months prior to 31 October 2020.

The use of three distinct growth metrics allowed a range of the UK’s fastest-growing female-powered businesses to be featured, while not overly restricting the opportunity to rank based on company size or sector. Nearly 75% of the businesses have not previously featured in one of the UK’s major growth lists. Of the 200 businesses, 114 have a female leader and 107 have management teams that are composed of at least half female managers.

Eight growth triggers were used to identify the UK’s 33,300 high-growth businesses among the population of 4.2m active UK businesses. Companies that met any of those growth triggers were deemed to be high-growth or to have high-growth ambition.

JP Morgan concluded its Top 200 Female-Powered Businesses report by stating that high-growth female-powered businesses raised a record £2.3 billion in equity investment in 2020 – up 41 percent from 2019. However, while last year was a record year for equity investment into female-powered businesses, this is still a fraction of the more than £13 billion invested into all UK growth companies in 2020.
