Last week CEO Kathleen McLeay attended the BVCA Women in Private Equity breakfast event in London. Catherine Lewis La Torre, the CEO of British Business Investments and British Patient Capital, spoke at the event and Kathleen commented “Catherine’s speech was inspiring and very interesting. She demonstrated that it is not necessary to follow a conventional career path to get to a top position in the industry.”
There was also an interesting discussion around diversity and how, with hindsight, some of the best career moves Catherine has made had arisen as a result of taking a risk, even if the risk was perhaps unknown at the time. It was also refreshing to hear how even when life throws curveballs in the career plan (like falling in love with an Italian!) it can lead to following alternative paths which provide their own challenges and rewards.
