Kathleen McLeay, CEO, last week attended the annual BVCA Tax, Regulatory and Legal conference. Like most things in 2020 this moved online and was spread over three mornings which allowed for a very fulsome agenda but not the usual ability to catch up with others in the industry over coffee and lunch.
As ever, it was very well attended and gave all attendees a thorough review of new regulatory, legal and tax changes coming over the horizon and also updates on the position with existing matters which the various BVCA committees have been involved with applicable to those working in private equity.
Topics covered included carried interest, personal and international tax, Brexit, the new prudential rules, SMCR, LIBOR and AML updates. There were also two very interesting sessions on sustainability and ESG reporting and the impact of Covid 19 on portfolio companies and related matters such as valuations.
