Global Sustainable Trust

NCM was delighted to sponsor and co-host the first forum of the Global Sustainable Trust (GST) held in Edinburgh on 27 November 2017.

A wide range of delegates attended including family offices, asset and investment managers, members of the UN and a select band of the professional ranks of Scotland to discuss how to fund a number of UN backed sustainability targets. This is not just required for the long term health of the world but demanded by investors.

The proposed structure for such funding is a Scottish Investment Trust, run by an asset manager (nothing new here). However this trust would be guided by an independent Board with a mandate to achieve sustainable development goals, whilst still giving investors attractive and diversified returns.

All delegates went away with plenty of food for thought with a promise from the organisers to return in early 2018 with such a Trust and Board mandate.
